To become a good educator, it is important to understand that today's children are tomorrow's leaders. Therefore, reflecting on personal characteristics is essential for the educator and it must be considered in today's evolving time period. As learning transforms into the 21st century, basic principles such as; respect, ambition, motivation, optimisim, and creativity must be considered within the learning outcomes for every learning opportunity in classrooms because it allows children to develop similar leadership qualities.

“A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the quality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.” General Douglas MacArthur

Learn, Teach, Lead

Reflections on Resilience:

- Resilience begins with beleif
- Resilience is a PROCESS not a trait

- Everyone, regardless of age or circumstances, has the capacity for resilience

-Relationships, high expectations, and opportunities to participate and contribute are 3 major protective factors that help us lessen adversity and nourish personal strength
- Resilience isn’t just for people from high-risk environments

- Resilience isn’t a program or curriculum

- Resilient people identify themselves as SURVIVORS rather than victims

- Resilience is not just for remediation or intervention

- 1 person’s support can be crucial in developing another’s resilience

- Challenging life experiences can be opportunities for growth and change

- Most people make it despite exposure to severe risk

(Covey, 2009).
